Welcome to Best Value bespoke saddles
About us
Established in 1988, we are a father and son team, Keith and Ian Jenkin, plus our saddler Ted Lawrence who was apprenticed to Champion and Wilson of London in 1956. As holders of the Royal Warrant, they carried out work for the Royal Mews and were regarded as the leading saddlery firm in the UK.

With Keith based in east Kent and Ian in London, we cover between us the whole of the South East  of England, supplying and fitting saddles that are both made to measure and guaranteed to fit.

Moreover, because we sell only saddles, we are saddle experts, and because of the experience and expertise of our saddler, our after sales service is second to none. Most importantly, should your horse change shape, we will modify your saddle to fit the new shape.

We are often asked how we are able to supply saddles at such competitive prices. This is because  we prefer dealing with individual craftsmen, all ex senior saddlers who have left the employment of one of the old established firms to set up in business on their own. Consequently, they have the advantage of being excellent and experienced craftsmen with very low overheads. Unlike the bigger, wellknown firms, they have no wages bill, no literature, no advertising, no expensive premises and some are not even VAT registered. The result is a first class product at very competitive prices, which we are able to pass on to our customers. In any event, we find that very few customers actually specify a particular brand. Their main concern is to obtain a saddle that fits both them and their horse to perfection at a price they can afford.
Templates
All our saddles are made from templates of your horses back. The most important of these is the 'wither' template. This enables the saddler not only to get the precise width but also the right shape. This way the front arch of the saddle tree conforms exactly to the shape of your horse.
Stock Saddles
If necessary we will lend you a second hand or synthetic saddle while you are waiting the 3 to 5 weeks for your saddle to be made. We carry a stock of over 200 new and used saddles.
After Sales Service
We are happy to check your saddle free of charge if required, usually within 6 to 12 weeks of fitting. Horses, like people, change shape. If this happens we will come out, take another template, and adjust your saddle tree accordingly. *(It is not always possible to make the adjustment with the flocking alone). This means the saddle you have made should last the entire riding life of your horse, there should be no reason to change your saddle if the correct adjustments are made
Youngsters & 3 Year Old's
We feel it is much better to fit a young horse as soon as possible with a made to measure saddle, and adjust it accordingly as the horse changes shape. Rather than making do with an ill fitting, tempory, second hand or synthetic saddle.
Cobs & ponies
These are notoriously problematic types to fit, mainly because of width and stability. We specialise in getting the saddle to fit perfectly for both horse and rider, and then keeping it stable. This may require a very soft consistancy of lambswool flocking, that can quickly compress and conform to the shape of your horses back.
