This saddle has been designed specifically to overcome the hitherto
almost insurmountable problem of pony saddles sliding forward up the
neck. This is achieved by the use of a 'Whippy' short felt panel, on a
close contact tree. The short or half panel is much thinner than the
conventional flocked panel, giving much greater stability.This type of panel allows the flaps to lay much closer to the pony's flanks because there is no knee roll normally fitted to  the underside
of the conventional sweat flap. This also helps to prevent the saddle sliding
forward.In addition, we fit four girth straps each side, including point and balancing straps, which  pull the saddle down more evenly and bring a
greater area of the panel into contact with the back. We also recommend
the use of 5" wide stubben cord girth that grips the belly and prevents
the saddle moving from side to side, and gives greater stability
